Default XP distribution

HI.

I know that you only get xp from 5 levels below your own, and that xp is shared by the whole group.

What i need to know is this:

If a lvl 7 and a lvl 1 go out in pre-searing the lvl 7 gets xp from lvl 2 up & the lvl 1 gets xp from everything.
Now the xp from lvl 0 & lvl 1 mobs is that still shared even tho the lvl 7 gets 0xp. Or does the lvl 1 get the whole amount.

Probably a stupid question but I was curious about the result.

Anet calculates XP per player not group. So you as the lvl 7 would get 0 while the lvl 1 will get XP.

I don't think that was the question at all, Jay. I think the question was as to whether or not if a high level member of the party who will no longer receive experience from a given foe still takes a percentage of the experience away from the lower leveled party members.

I believe the answer is yes, although I've never exactly gone out and tested it. I was under the impression that experience is calculated first in relation of your level to your enemies, and then reduced based on the number of active party members you have (the guy who went afk and is still waiting on the other side of the map would not be included). This would mean that whether or not another party member is gaining experience from these enemies has no bearing on how much experience you yourself are recieving. All that matters is that they are there helping out.

As an aside, pets do not count towards this: having many pets in the party doesn't reduce the amount of experience you recieve.

Okay sorry let me explain further. xp is calculated per player. I dont remember the exact formula off the top of my head but like you said Jenosavel it factors in # in the party. what it does is take your level, foes level, # of people in your party and comes up with xp for each member in that party for the kill. So Jedi Knight in your example you would get a 0 xp obviously fm the lvl 1 foe. Your party member would get xp but it would be reduced due to # in the party.

Thanx guys.

The only reason I asked was, I was deleting a char to create a new one with the same name and wasn't sure about soloing (more xp) or going tandem (faster) 2xpeople = quicker kill rate.

In the end I just went solo. Made lvl 6 in 2h11m with a bare minimum of quests (killed absolutely everything) and have so far just opened up ashford Abbey and Fort Ranik.

I still have majority of quests left and areas to open so should make lvl 9 before leaving Pre-searing.
